Tei Association Championships 2025

We cannot wait to welcome you to the first Tei Association Championships.

We ask you kindly to use the kit checklist below to ensure you are/your child is permitted to compete on the day. Would hate for someone to be unable to take part due to missing kit/no gumshield for example.

What to bring for competing:

Kata:

Gi
Blue belt/Red belt (The Association will have belts available on the day)

Kumite:

Gi
Gumshield
Groin guard for boys
Shin and in-step (blue and red)
Mitts (blue and red)
Chest guard (male and female)
Blue and red belts
Note: The Association will have some spare belts/mitts/shin and instep and chest guards available on the day but would encourage students to build up their own kit. (All are available at discount through the clubs.)
Also bring your license book (with the insert paper slip noting the date of licensing).

Good to know:

  • Sign up for competing is completed. There will be NO registration for competing on the day itself.

  • Competitors pay in advance – as per the details on the website. If you have not yet paid your entry fee(s), please do so asap. (£10 per kata entry, £10 per kumite entry, transfer to Tei Karate Club, 80-08-98, 00881644, reference SURNAME/TAC2025.) Thank you to all who have paid already.

  • Spectators pay on the day – £5 per person (per adult and per child) and that covers entry, a copy of the printed programme and a raffle ticket.

  • Competitors – arrive 9.30am to confirm your registration and check out your pool details. (Volunteers, if you can come 9am, that would be super.) Event end time c.2pm.

  • Seating will be available in the main hall – depending on attendance, it could be that we ask the parents/spectators of those taking part in that particular bout are allowed to sit, then we move to allow the next group to watch, etc.

  • We will also have the hall next to the regular hall (where gymnastics often takes place) – we plan to use this to ‘marshall’ the competitors in time for their bout, to warm up and for general ‘hanging about’ in between bouts etc!

  • Raffle tickets £1 available to buy on the day. Prize: a voucher for Lucali, Bearsden. Perhaps a few small prizes too.

  • We plan to have a kit stand where you can buy various items of kit, likely located in the small multi-activity room. Please help us keep all areas tidy throughout the event.

  • We hope to also have a refreshment stand, in the small multi-activity room – juices, biscuits, basic but tasty! Bring coins for this please. The Allander café will also be open, offering nice things. (No food n drinks in the main halls.)

  • Photos will be taken on the day – if you do not want to be photographed, or have your child photographed, no problem – inform Magda at registration table on the morning of the event.

  • Remember to put your name on Gi, kit, hoodies, tshirts – lots of people may have the same.

  • If you/your child is unwell and cannot join us on the day, please message or call Paul (or Magda, or anyone that you know who is attending and can pass on the message).

  • And the most important thing – have fun and enjoy the Championships.

This is an event to bring together all Clubs, to encourage friendly competition and develop skills and confidence. Judges’ decisions are final. Volunteers are just that; volunteers who have offered to help out. Please give yourself enough time to arrive and get into kit, ready to compete. The printed programme has been a big piece of work for those involved; please go gently should you come across any typos. And most of all, let’s have a brilliant day!
